What’s the difference between the Vaulting World Championships and European Championships?
The two are separate FEI title events held in alternating years — never in the same year. The World Championships (or, every four years through 2018, the World Equestrian Games) is open to all nations globally; the European Championships is restricted to European nations. The FEI Vaulting World Championships have been held since 1986, originally on a two-year cycle. The European Championships started two years earlier, in 1984.
Who is the most decorated vaulter in FEI World Championship history?
Jasmin Lindner of Austria, with five gold medals and seven medals overall at FEI World Championships — making her the most titled FEI vaulting athlete to date (August 2026). She won the Pas de Deux title five consecutive times with partner Lukas Wacha (2012–2016) and the Women’s Individual World title twice (2016, 2021).
Which nation has dominated the Team competition?
Germany by a wide margin. Since the first World Championships in 1986, Germany won every edition except 1988, 1990 and 1994 — all three won by Switzerland — building an uninterrupted winning streak from 1996 through 2008. Their club VV Köln-Dünnwald has won four consecutive World titles from 2021 to 2024.
Since when has the Pas de Deux been a championship discipline?
The Pas de Deux was introduced at the European Championships in 2009 and at the World Championships in 2012. Jasmin Lindner and Lukas Wacha made history in Le Mans 2012 as the first-ever FEI Vaulting World Champions in Pas de Deux.
Was vaulting ever at the Olympic Games?

The Nations Cup was introduced at the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2018 as an Official Team Competition, where two individuals and one squad from each nation compete together for national glory. It has been held at every World and European Championship since. Germany and France have shared all titles so far, with Germany winning four editions and France three.
