The VW Team was on site and gathered some impressions, insights and the results for you.

| GERMAN VERSION BELOW |

> THE ATMOSPHERE

The anticipation for the Prize of the Best was huge, although there was, of course, always the concern that the event could be canceled again due to the constantly changing corona situation.
The relief was all the greater when it really started. For the first major competition in a good 1.5 years. How would it be after such a long break from competitions? Many vaulters were unable to train at all or only to a limited extent at times, and many horses were mainly moved to outdoor areas. And how much would the athletes and their style of gymnastics have changed and developed? How quickly would the horses get used to the competition atmosphere again?

When we arrived at the facility in Warendorf, the first thing we noticed was the excellent organization. Access was only granted to those who could show a negative corona test; of course, the general corona rules also applied. In the arena, every “spectator”, companion and helper wore a mask everywhere and at all times, only the competing vaulters, lungers and judges in the circle were excluded. That worked really well, didn’t detract from the competition atmosphere at all (apart from the lack of spectators in the arena) and ensured a safe environment and event for everyone.
At the latest when the familiar voice of Adda Boe began with the announcement, all external circumstances were forgotten.

On Saturday it was everyone’s turn to start their first compulsory round, junior individuals and teams, participants in the “Prize of the Future” and, for the first time, the participants in the U21 pilot test.
The first competitor is ready, the judge rings the first bell, the music starts, the vaulter starts running. The first moments feel almost unrealistic, it takes a short time to realize that the time has come. The event has not been canceled, we are here and it is really and truly starting again. After 1.5 years.

But this feeling subsided very quickly and after the third compulsory round at the latest everything felt “normal” again.
It seemed to take a little longer for the athletes and horses. Whether it was the lack of routine of the horses, or the nervousness of the athletes and lungers, the general tension that such a qualification competition brings with it, or the inconsistent weather that kept heavy showers of rain pounding on the roof, both horses , as well as people tended to appear a little more insecure on the first day of the competition. Which of course is absolutely understandable and comprehensible. Nevertheless, there were great and solid compulsory performances to marvel at. Some vaulters were barely recognizable, in a positive sense. The men in particular have shown some huge changes not only in terms of size, but also in their entire way of gymnastics since 2019. And so the first compulsory rounds were already more than exciting to watch.

> JUNIOR INDIVIDUALS

As already mentioned, not everything went smoothly for most vaulters on Saturday, not everyone was able to present their skills to the full. Nevertheless, every year it is of course exciting to see what everyone has thought of for their freestyle. What topics will it be this year? Which music? What do the new catsuits look like? Has everyone decided on a new topic or kept their old one and developed it further? The juniors in particular usually have a lot to offer. And so they did not disappoint this year either.

There was Sarah Liersch in bright yellow with her La La Land freestyle, Luisa Rossitsch as “Ronja the robber’s daughter” and a very simple catsuit design, but all the more glittering Mila Koböck who performed to the song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend”. Salome Trampler whirled up to ever faster, happy gypsy sounds and Lily Warren interpreted the song “Candyman” with a lively freestyle, which was refined with many precise arm movements and a great expression.

After the somewhat mixed Saturday, the routine for horse and human seemed to have returned on Sunday. Everything seemed calmer and more relaxed and, especially in the freestyle, many vaulters were able to improve again and deliver nice clean rounds. So it got really exciting again.

After both compulsory and freestyle rounds, Paula Waskowiak (7,889) came out on top. She floated through her freestyle as a “White Dove” and was able to present a clean, flowing performance in both rounds. Laura Seemüller (7,818) embodied “Matilda” in her freestyle and made it to second place in the end.
Gianna Ronca (7.723), who was just in the lead on Saturday with her vampire freestyle, had to struggle with some uncertainties on Sunday, so that she ended up in 3rd place in the final result.

The men also offered a great variety of freestyles. Leonel Gerke had decided on a dynamic jungle theme and Arne Heers presented an expressive freestyle as “Mack The Knife”.
Philip Goroncy (7.908) was able to win the competition, followed by Bela Lehnen (7.584), who in a red racing suit showed a freestyle on the theme of Formula 1 (on his horse Formula 1). Third place went to Simon Stolz (7.396).

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="750" data-attachment-id="6134" data-permalink="https://www.vaultingworld.com/de/preis-der-besten-warendorf-2021/preis-der-besten/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.vaultingworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Philip-Goroncy.jpg?fit=1000%2C1250&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,1250" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"2.8","credit":"vaultingworld.com | Julian Spilker","camera":"Canon EOS R6","caption":"Philip Goroncy, 1. First with the compulsory and later also with the first round of the freestyle. On the first day, Team HWR Junior 1 took the lead (7,323), with a fluent gymnastics freestyle that had many creative elements and transitions to offer.

The junior team 1 from VV Ingelsberg (7.207) showed a freestyle in simple catsuits on the subject of “Les Misérables”.

The junior team VV Köln-Dünnwald 1 (6.779) was unfortunately not that lucky in the first freestyle and, in addition to a few insecurities, also suffered a fall. Nevertheless, the freestyle to mystical drum sounds, nature and animal noises was exciting to follow. The sequined catsuits in gold and beige tones also contributed to this. And all the greater is the curiosity to see the freestyle again at some point with more routine and confidence.

On Sunday in the second freestyle round, the team from Ingelsberg was able to improve again and present their freestyle, in which there had been minor uncertainties the day before, clean and convincing and thus secure victory in the final result. The HWR Junior 1 team showed another very clean and beautiful freestyle, but, like the day before, their horse did not seem to have found its way back into the competition routine, which of course had a strong effect on the horse score. So they had to give up the lead again and ended up in 2nd place. The junior team Köln-Dünnwald 1 had a bit of a struggle again, not everything went smoothly in the second round of the freestyle, and so the team also landed third in the final result.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="600" data-attachment-id="6136" data-permalink="https://www.vaultingworld.com/de/preis-der-besten-warendorf-2021/preis-der-besten-2/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.vaultingworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/juniorteam-ingelsberg-voltigieren.jpg?fit=1000%2C1000&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,1000" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"2.8","credit":"vaultingworld.com | Julian Spilker","camera":"Canon EOS R6","caption":"Preis der Besten, 16.05.2021 in Warendorf (DEUTSCHE REITERLICHE VEREINIGUNG e. Followed by Lilly Auerswald (6.999) and Leni Allinger (6.873).

In their freestyle rounds on Sunday, the young vaulters showed a wealth of different freestyle subjects, ranging from “The Lion King” to “Vaiana” to “Aladdin”. The vaulters showed great freestyles with nice, clean exercises and topic interpretations. It will be exciting to see how they continue to develop over the next few years, as many former starters from the “Prize of the Future” are today’s starters from the “Prize of the Best”.

After her clear lead after compulsories, Mirja Luise Krohne (7.478) was also able to secure first place in the final result. She presented a dynamic freestyle program on the subject of “Pikatchu” and, as soon as she walked in, thrilled the audience with her bright yellow suit and matching hairstyle, reminiscent of Pikachu’s ears. With her elegant and safe Elsa freestyle (“Frozen”), Leni Vogel (6,867) was able to catch up several places and fight for second place.
3rd place went to Lilli Klein (6.787). The answer to that, a resounding YES! What was missing? Sure, the spectators in the arena, loud cheers after a successful freestyle, entire clubs that are there to cheer on their vaulters. We may have to do without it for a while. Was it nice anyway? Definitely!

The number of accompanying persons was strictly limited, and spectators were not allowed at all. But thanks to the live stream from ClipMyHorse, which was made available to everyone, vaulters, friends, parents, everywhere could still be in the arena and take part in what was happening. The active competitiors and companions who were on site provided everyone with pictures, small videos and reports via social media, which spread very fast. The excitement and joy that there FINALLY was a competition was clearly felt everywhere. Despite the spatial separation, there was a strong feeling of solidarity.

Sure, a live stream cannot replace attending a competition, a small group of people in the arena can never cheer so loudly that the running-in music is drowned out. And also an award ceremony without the crowds and congratulations with a handshake and hug takes getting used to. BUT what surely outweighs everyone in the end is a feeling of gratitude. For the fact that the event could take place at all. For that it can finally go on. And the hope that there will be more competitions again very soon, whether with Corona requirements or without.

| GERMAN VERSION |

Are a Girl`s Best Friend“ turnte.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="750" data-attachment-id="6134" data-permalink="https://www.vaultingworld.com/de/preis-der-besten-warendorf-2021/preis-der-besten/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.vaultingworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Philip-Goroncy.jpg?fit=1000%2C1250&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,1250" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"2.8","credit":"vaultingworld.com | Julian Spilker","camera":"Canon EOS R6","caption":"Philip Goroncy, 1.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="600" data-attachment-id="6136" data-permalink="https://www.vaultingworld.com/de/preis-der-besten-warendorf-2021/preis-der-besten-2/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.vaultingworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/juniorteam-ingelsberg-voltigieren.jpg?fit=1000%2C1000&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,1000" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"2.8","credit":"vaultingworld.com | Julian Spilker","camera":"Canon EOS R6","caption":"Preis der Besten, 16.05.2021 in Warendorf (DEUTSCHE REITERLICHE VEREINIGUNG e.

<img data-recalc-dims="1" loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="600" data-attachment-id="6139" data-permalink="https://www.vaultingworld.com/de/preis-der-besten-warendorf-2021/preis-der-besten-3/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/www.vaultingworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Mirja-Luise-Krohne.jpg?fit=1000%2C1000&ssl=1" data-orig-size="1000,1000" data-comments-opened="0" data-image-meta="{"aperture":"2.8","credit":"vaultingworld.com | Julian Spilker","camera":"Canon EOS R5","caption":"Preis der Besten, 16.05.2021 in Warendorf (DEUTSCHE REITERLICHE VEREINIGUNG e. Die Antwort darauf, ein ganz klares JA! Was fehlte?
