Maike has been connected to the Vaulting World ever since and has recently launched her brand Farbmonster. Her unique and handmade vaulting dresses are absolutely stunning, so we have talked to her about her passion and her designs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

> Who is Maike?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Maike is 33 years old, a former vaulter and trainer, quite colorful and a great friend of bright colors and strong contrasts. \ud83d\ude42 Her tailor’s workshop is located in L\u00fcneburg.
She started vaulting when she was 5 years old. She had many athletic hobbies, but vaulting was always her favorite and most important.
Later she was also Co-trainer and trainer and generally found in the stable every day. \ud83d\ude09
The age limit, which was in force at that time (unfortunately !!), eventually ended her time as an active vaulter.
However, since then she has always remained connected to the sport and has continued to pursue it year after year. As a spectator at competitions, through the Internet and the Voltigierzirkel and not least thanks to the livestreams, which are now frequently available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> How and why did she start making her own catsuits?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“What I love most about tailoring is the ability to create things the way I want them to be, independent of brands and trends, unfavorable cuts and bad fits, and the likes of others.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was also my original motivation to start sewing a few years ago.
Sewing and the fun of creating new, beautiful things that previously only existed in my mind quickly became a real passion that ultimately led me to the dressmaking business of the Hamburg State Opera. \ud83d\ude42
I worked there for some time and had the opportunity to immerse myself in a completely new world. Not only did I learn a lot about fabrics and workmanship (and rhinestones and sequins, tulle and chiffon, hidden closures and invisible straps, particularly durable seams and alteration-friendly workmanship), but above all about the stage effects of opera and ballet costumes (in the costume tailors are also the costumes of the dancers of the Hamburg Ballet by John Neumeier made).
Of course, this is also an important topic for vaulting catsuits, as they should look and work well beyond the circle.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, I also sewed more and more privately and found that it is just as much fun to make other people’s ideas and wishes come true, like my own.
And since the vaulting catsuits have inspired me from the beginning as a very small vaulting kid (I always wanted to go to trainings in catsuits, no matter what sport! And to school !: D) and I really like to work with lycra fabrics, because they have so many options, I knew very early on where the path should lead.
At the beginning of 2019, I moved to my own studio in L\u00fcneburg and have since finally enough space to develop my creative ideas. “<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

> How does she get inspired?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“There are many things that can inspire me, such as costumes from shows, circuses, and theaters, as well as music, books, and art exhibitions, inspiration is everywhere, and the less you look for it, the more it catches your eye.
Sometimes it’s just a certain fabric that I see, or a combination of colors, to which I then immediately think of the right catsuit.
I always like it when my customers want suits for unknown topics. I love to work in completely new areas, watch films and read books in order to be able to do justice to the subject as well as possible. But of course “classics” like Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, etc. are just as much fun. Because the challenge here is to interpret the theme and catsuit design again and again so that it does not get boring.
No matter what my clients want, I try to tailor a unique costume that suits them and makes them feel good.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can easily order suits by e-mail<\/a>, via the contact form on Maike’s homepage<\/a>, via Instagram<\/a> or directly in her studio in the “KulturB\u00e4ckerei” in L\u00fcneburg, Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> How do you order?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“First, the customers write me a request, which I try to answer as soon as possible.
Next, we will discuss some basic information: Is it about an individual catsuit or a squad set? Are there any ideas \/ themes \/ color wishes, etc.?
Some vaulters come to me with concrete ideas, topics and possibly even with sketches. I look at them, give suggestions, what might possibly be done differently and suggest fabrics.
Others do not have a clear idea of what their catsuit should look like, which of course is not a problem, quite the contrary! We’ll find out together what you like and I’ll be happy to help with the theme \/ music selection.
As soon as everything is discussed, I will prepare a draft and then send out fabric samples by post.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

> What are future projects? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“There are many great catsuits that I’m going to make over the winter and that I’m really looking forward to \ud83d\ude42

> Wer ist Maike?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Maike ist 33 Jahre alt, ehemalige Voltigiererin und Trainerin, ziemlich bunt und ein gro\u00dfer Freund von leuchtenden Farben und starken Kontrasten. \ud83d\ude42 Ihr Schneideratelier befindet sich in L\u00fcneburg.
Mit dem Voltigieren hat sie begonnen, als sie 5 Jahre alt war. Sie hatte viele sportliche Hobbies, aber das Voltigieren war ihr immer das Liebste und Wichtigste.
Sp\u00e4ter war sie dann auch Co-Trainerin und Trainerin und generell jeden Tag im Stall zu finden. \ud83d\ude09
Die Altersgrenze, die es damals (leider!!) noch gab, hat dann irgendwann ihre Zeit als aktive Voltigiererin beendet.
Seitdem ist sie dem Sport jedoch immer verbunden geblieben und hat ihn Jahr f\u00fcr Jahr weiter verfolgt. Als Zuschauer bei Turnieren, durch das Internet und den \u201eVoltigierzirkel\u201c und nicht zuletzt auch dank der Livestreams, die mittlerweile h\u00e4ufig zur Verf\u00fcgung stehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Wie und Warum hat sie angefangen, Anz\u00fcge zu n\u00e4hen?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Was ich am Schneidern am meisten liebe, ist die M\u00f6glichkeit, Dinge erschaffen zu k\u00f6nnen, genau so, wie ich es m\u00f6chte und dabei unabh\u00e4ngig zu sein von Marken und Trends, ung\u00fcnstigen Schnitten und schlechten Passformen und den Vorstellungen anderer. 
Das war vor einigen Jahren auch meine urspr\u00fcngliche Motivation mit dem N\u00e4hen zu beginnen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das N\u00e4hen und der damit verbundene Spa\u00df am Erschaffen von neuen, wundersch\u00f6nen Dingen, die vorher nur in meinem Kopf existierten, wurde schnell zu einer echten Leidenschaft, die mich letztendlich bis in die Kost\u00fcmschneiderei der Staatsoper Hamburg f\u00fchrte. \ud83d\ude42
Dort habe ich einige Zeit gearbeitet und hatte so die M\u00f6glichkeit in eine mir bis dahin v\u00f6llig neue Welt einzutauchen. Dabei habe ich nicht nur viel \u00fcber Stoffe und Verarbeitung gelernt (und Strass und Pailletten, T\u00fcll und Chiffon, versteckte Verschl\u00fcsse und unsichtbare Tr\u00e4ger, besonders haltbare N\u00e4hte und \u00e4nderungsfreundliche Verarbeitung), sondern vor allem auch \u00fcber die B\u00fchnenwirkung der Opern- und Ballettkost\u00fcme (in der Kost\u00fcmschneiderei werden auch die Kost\u00fcme der T\u00e4nzer des Hamburg Balletts von John Neumeier angefertigt).
Das ist nat\u00fcrlich auch f\u00fcr Voltigieranz\u00fcge ein wichtiges Thema, da sie ja auch \u00fcber den Zirkel hinaus toll aussehen und wirken sollen.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ich habe nat\u00fcrlich auch privat immer weiter gen\u00e4ht und dabei festgestellt, dass es mir genauso viel Spa\u00df macht, die Ideen und W\u00fcnsche anderer Menschen Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen, wie meine eigenen.
Und da die Voltigieranz\u00fcge mich schon von Anfang an als ganz kleiner Voltizwerg begeistert haben (ich wollte am liebsten immer im Trikot zum Training, egal welcher Sport! Und zur Schule! \ud83d\ude00 ) und ich total gern mit Lycrastoffen arbeite, weil sie so viele M\u00f6glichkeiten bieten, war mir schon sehr fr\u00fch klar, wohin der Weg mal f\u00fchren sollte.
Anfang 2019 bin ich in mein eigenes Atelier in L\u00fcneburg gezogen und habe seitdem nun endlich genug Raum, mich kreativ frei entfalten zu k\u00f6nnen.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Woher bekommt sie die Inspiration?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Es gibt viele Dinge die mich inspirieren k\u00f6nnen, z.B. Kost\u00fcme von Shows, Zirkus und Theater, aber genauso auch Musik, B\u00fccher und Kunstausstellungen. Inspiration gibt es \u00fcberall und je weniger man danach sucht, umso mehr springt sie einem dann ins Auge.
Manchmal ist es auch nur ein bestimmter Stoff, den ich sehe, oder eine Farbkombination, zu der mir dann direkt das passende Trikot einf\u00e4llt.
Ich finde es immer super, wenn meine Kunden sich Anz\u00fcge zu mir noch unbekannten Themen w\u00fcnschen. Ich arbeite mich total gerne in v\u00f6llig neue Bereiche ein, schaue Filme und lese B\u00fccher, um dann dem Thema m\u00f6glichst gut gerecht werden zu k\u00f6nnen. Aber nat\u00fcrlich machen \u201eKlassiker\u201c wie Alice im Wunderland, Peter Pan, usw. genau so viel Spa\u00df. Denn hier besteht die Herausforderung darin, das Thema und Trikotdesign immer wieder neu zu interpretieren, damit es nicht langweilig wird.
Egal, was meine Kunden sich w\u00fcnschen, ich versuche f\u00fcr jeden ein einzigartiges Trikot zu schneidern, das zu ihm passt und in dem er sich wohl f\u00fchlt.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anz\u00fcge k\u00f6nnt ihr ganz einfach per E-Mail<\/a>, \u00fcber das Kontaktformular auf Maike’s Homepage<\/a>, \u00fcber Instagram<\/a> oder direkt vor Ort in ihrem Atelier in der \u201eKulturB\u00e4ckerei\u201c in L\u00fcneburg bestellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auf ihrer Homepage und auf Instagram sind auch einige Einzelst\u00fccke zu finden, die zum Verkauf stehen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Wie kann man bestellen?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Als erstes schreiben mir die Kunden eine Anfrage, die versuche ich dann schnellstm\u00f6glich zu beantworten.
Als n\u00e4chstes besprechen wir dann einige Basisinfomationen: Geht es um ein Einzeltrikot oder um einen Gruppensatz? Gibt es schon Ideen\/ Themen\/ Farbw\u00fcnsche, usw.?
Manche Voltis kommen schon mit konkreten Vorstellungen, Themen und evtl. auch schon mit Skizzen zu mir. Die schaue ich mir an, gebe Anregungen, was evtl. noch anders gemacht werden k\u00f6nnte und schlage Stoffe vor.
Andere haben noch keine genaue Vorstellungen, wie ihr Anzug aussehen soll, was nat\u00fcrlich absolut kein Problem ist, ganz im Gegenteil! Wir finden dann gemeinsam heraus, was euch gefallen k\u00f6nnte und ich helfe euch gern bei der Themen-\/ Musikauswahl.
Sobald alles besprochen ist, fertige ich einen Entwurf an und schicke dann per Post Stoffproben los.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

> Welche Projekte stehen an? <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

“Es gibt viele tolle Anz\u00fcge, die ich \u00fcber den Winter anfertigen werde und auf die ich mich schon riesig freue. \ud83d\ude42
