Dark Beluga, the 16-year-old Hanoverian son of De Niro\/Akzent II has already collected several medals and has carried his vaulters to numerous successes. Most of you might know him together with Jannik Heiland<\/a> at individual vaulting, however at home, Beluga, also called Balou or Belugi, is the horse of Team Timeloh Hof for many years already. While many different vaulters have competed on him already, one person never left his side: Barbara Rosiny, his owner and lunger. Beyond question, she knows him best and of course she knows what quirks make him special:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Beluga is a free spirit and a faithful soul. He lives in an active stable and when he has to stand in the stall he wants to get out very quickly in the morning\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara and Beluga are considered as one of the best known dream teams in the Vaulting World, therefore we interviewed Barbara about Beluga and she told us how he became such a successful vaulting horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Susanne Prenzel from Bruchhausen-Vilsen was the one who came across him first. After she tested him for vaulting and thought he was suitable for that sport, he should be sold. Luckily, a friend of Barbara knew that she was searching for a new horse and sent her the sales email. After she saw the first pictures, Dark Beluga had already aroused her interest and she knew she had to see him. We asked why she decided to buy him in the end and it looks like it was love on first sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: With the email already, I had this feeling and when I saw him for the first time standing in the stable, the feeling was back. I rode him and thought, yes he is willing to work with us and he has potential. When we tried vaulting he showed strong nerves as workers were walking around on the roof and they didn\u2019t bother him. In addition to that, his canter was good for vaulting. The mounted police of Hannover was also very interested in him. I\u2019m so happy we got together!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But how did Barbara know that the Vaulting Would be the right sport for him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: I didn\u2019t know that, I just had a good feeling and I\u2019m very glad to have trusted my feeling.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the training, Beluga proved that Barbara was absolutely right with her feeling. He learned the basics of vaulting in no time, his biggest problem was the quality of the canter. Since he is heavy on the forehand because of his exterior and he doesn\u2019t have an impressively active forequarter and also is a bit phlegmatic, it was the biggest challenge to engage his hindquarters and to improve his responsiveness. It took 3 years for Barbara to be really content with his canter and they still continued working on it. But aside from the work on the canter, how exactly was Dark Beluga\u2019s training to be a vaulting horse structured?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: First of all, I rode Beluga very versatilely for one and a half months (dressage, cross-country, gymnastic jumping, cavaletti training\u2026) and lunged without a vaulter. Then we slowly started with vaulting once a week and after a few weeks we increased that to two times a week. Until now he still has only two vaulting training sessions a week.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2012 Dark Beluga had his very first appearance as a vaulting horse at a competition and since then things were only getting better. The numerous successes at almost every international competition with often very high horse scores show that Barbara did everything right. Now Beluga has made a name for himself and is one of the best and most popular horses in the Vaulting World. If Barbara Rosiny expected that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: No, I didn\u2019t. However a professional horse management is very important to me and therefore the versatile, conscientious and high-quality work with the horse has always been a matter of the heart to me and that this is rewarded with the successes we have achieved, makes me very happy of course. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does Barbara like most about him?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: His canter and his character, he is strong-willed, a fighter and he knows exactly when it matters, he gives everything and we have absolute confidence in each other.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the horse is the most important thing for a vaulter, we also wanted to know what Beluga\u2019s vaulters have to say about him. Most famous is probably Jannik Heiland, who, together with Barbara and Beluga, became Vice World Champion last year and Vice European Champion in Ermelo this year. Those three are a well-rehearsed and harmonious team and you can see that not only in the circle, but in the extraordinary scores as well, which this dream team from northern Germany keeps achieving. That\u2019s why we also asked Jannik some questions about his so very reliable sports partner:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes Dark Beluga special for you? What do you like most about him?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What<\/em>\u2019s special about him in the competition is his absolute nerve strength and his evenness.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have to adapt your freestyle to him in any way?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

No, I didn\u2019t have to adapt the freestyle in any way. He does well with everything. In training he found the beginning of my dark music for the technical test a bit \u201cweird\u201d, but at the second try it was no problem anymore.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you become a team with Beluga?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve actually known Barbara for over ten years already and Beluga for a long time, too. Since we don\u2019t live very far from each other, I trained her squad every now and then, also because there were former team members of mine in it. In 2013, I helped out in her squad for the North German Championships because someone was injured and in the last years we also did some shows or a World Cup competition with Beluga. So we have always \u201cran over each others paths\u201d and kept in touch. Last year I asked Barbara if Beluga could be my spare horse and she said yes. After my main horse Highlander got injured, I competed on Beluga for the whole season, which turned out quite well, I think\u2026 \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have some rituals you always do together before a competition?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we get him out of the stall before a competition to groom him, I always try to teach him to balance a water bottle on his head and he already got quite good on it \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are there any disadvantages or bad things about him?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not that I know\u2026 Except maybe that we don\u2019t have a clone of him yet \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does it mean to you to have such a great and reliable sports partner by your side?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Very much. A good, reliable horse is the foundation for every vaulter and everything builds on it. The more stable it is, the higher towers you can build\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Letztes Jahr Sieger im Nationenpreis, Silber im Einzelvoltigieren und Bronze im Pas-de-Deux bei den Weltreiterspielen in Tryon, dieses Jahr erneut Nationenpreissieger beim CHIO Aachen 2019 sowie Vize-Europameister im Einzelvoltigieren in Ermelo 2019. Dark Beluga, wer kennt ihn nicht? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dark Beluga, der 16-j\u00e4hrige Hannoveraner Sohn von De Niro\/Akzent II hat schon einige Medaillen gesammelt und seine Voltigierer zu zahlreichen Erfolgen getragen. Die meisten kennen ihn wohl zusammen mit Jannik Heiland<\/a> im Einzel, doch Beluga, oder auch Balou oder Belugi, wie er oft genannt wird, ist zuhause schon seit vielen Jahren Gruppenpferd des Teams Timeloh Hof. W\u00e4hrend etliche verschiedene Voltigierer auf ihm gestartet sind, ist ihm eine Person nie von der Seite gewichen: Barbara Rosiny, seine Besitzerin und Longenf\u00fchrerin. Sie kennt ihn ohne Frage am besten. So wei\u00df sie nat\u00fcrlich auch welche Eigenarten ihn besonders machen: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Beluga ist ein Freigeist und eine treue Seele. Er lebt in einem Aktivstall und wenn er mal in der Box stehen muss, dann m\u00f6chte er morgens sehr z\u00fcgig raus…<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara und Beluga gelten als eines der bekanntesten Dreamteams im Voltigiersport, deshalb haben wir Barbara einige Fragen zu Beluga gestellt und erfahren, wie er zu so einem erfolgreichen Voltigierpferd wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zum ersten Mal auf ihn gesto\u00dfen ist Susanne Prenzel aus Bruchhausen-Vilsen. Nachdem sie in f\u00fcrs Voltigieren getestet und als geeignet befunden hatte sollte er verkauft werden. Gl\u00fccklicherweise wusste eine Freundin von Barbara, dass sie auf der Suche nach einem neuen Pferd war und schickte ihr die Verkaufsmail. Schon nach den ersten Bildern, hatte Dark Beluga ihr Interesse geweckt und Barbara wollte ihn sich unbedingt ansehen. Wir haben gefragt, wieso sie sich letztendlich daf\u00fcr entschieden hat, ihn zu kaufen und anscheinend war es Liebe auf den ersten Blick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Schon bei der Email hatte ich so ein Gef\u00fchl und als ich ihn dann zum ersten Mal auf der Stallgasse gesehen habe, war das wieder da. Ich bin ihn geritten und dachte, ja der ist bereit mitzumachen und hat Potential. Beim Voltigieren zeigte er Nervenst\u00e4rke, auf dem Dach liefen Arbeiter herum und die st\u00f6rten ihn nicht. Zudem war seine Galoppade gut zu turnen. Die Polizeireiterstaffel Hannover war auch sehr an ihm interessiert. Ich bin wahnsinnig gl\u00fccklich, dass wir zusammengekommen sind!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Woher wusste Barbara, dass Voltigieren der richtige Sport f\u00fcr ihn ist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Gewusst habe ich das nicht, ich hatte ein Bauchgef\u00fchl und bin sehr froh meinem Gef\u00fchl vertraut zu haben. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bei der Ausbildung bewies Beluga, dass Barbara mit ihrem Gef\u00fchl absolut Recht hatte. Die Grundz\u00fcge des Voltigierens hat er rasend schnell gelernt, sein gr\u00f6\u00dftes Problem war die Qualit\u00e4t der Galoppade. Da er vom Exterieur her eher vorhandlastig ist und keine imposante Vorderhandaktivit\u00e4t hat und zudem auch etwas phlegmatisch ist, war es die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Herausforderung, ihn auf die Hinterhand zu setzen und auch seine Reaktionsschnelligkeit zu verbessern. So hat es 3 Jahre gedauert, bis Barbara die Galoppade wirklich gut fand und auch dann haben sie stetig weiter daran gearbeitet. Doch abgesehen von der Arbeit an der Galoppade, wie genau war Dark Belugas Training zum Voltigierpferd aufgebaut?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Zun\u00e4chst habe ich Beluga eineinhalb Monate sehr vielseitig geritten (Dressur, Gel\u00e4nde, Springgymnastik, Cavalettiarbeit…) und ohne Voltigierer longiert. Dann haben wir einmal die Woche mit dem Voltigieren langsam begonnen und dies nach ein paar Wochen auf 2x die Woche gesteigert. Bis heute geht er nur 2 Voltigiertrainingseinheiten in der Woche<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2012 hatte Dark Beluga dann seinen allerersten Einsatz als Voltigierpferd auf einem Turnier und seitdem ging es steil bergauf. Die zahlreichen Erfolge auf s\u00e4mtlichen internationalen Turnieren mit oft sehr hohen Pferdenoten zeigen, dass Barbara alles richtig gemacht hat. Nun hat Dark Beluga sich einen Namen gemacht und geh\u00f6rt zu den besten und vor allem beliebtesten Pferden in der Voltigierwelt. Ob Barbara Rosiny das erwartet h\u00e4tte?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Nein, das habe ich nicht. Mir liegt jedoch ein professionelles Pferdemanagement sehr am Herzen und so war mir schon immer die vielseitige, gewissenhafte und qualit\u00e4tvolle Arbeit mit dem Pferd ein Herzensanliegen und dass dies mit den Erfolgen, die wir erreicht haben, belohnt wird, freut mich nat\u00fcrlich sehr.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was das Beste an ihm ist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara: Seine Galoppade und sein Charakter, er ist willensstark, ein K\u00e4mpfer und wei\u00df genau wenn\u2018s drauf ankommt, er gibt alles und wir haben absolutes Vertrauen zueinander.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Da das Pferd das allerwichtigste f\u00fcr einen Voltigierer ist, wollten wir nat\u00fcrlich auch wissen, was Belugas Voltigierer \u00fcber ihn zu sagen haben. Am bekanntesten ist da Jannik Heiland, der zusammen mit Barbara und Beluga letztes Jahr Vizeweltmeister und in Ermelo dieses Jahr Vize-Europameister wurde. Die drei sind ein eingespieltes und harmonisches Team und das sieht man sowohl im Zirkel als auch an den au\u00dferordentlichen Noten, die das norddeutsche Dreamteam immer wieder ergattert. Deshalb haben wir auch Jannik ein paar Fragen zu seinem so zuverl\u00e4ssigen Sportpartner gestellt:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was macht Dark Beluga besonders f\u00fcr dich? Was ist deiner Meinung nach das Beste an ihm?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das besondere im Wettkampf an Beluga ist seine absolute Nervenst\u00e4rke und seine Gleichm\u00e4\u00dfigkeit.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musst du deine K\u00fcr in irgendeiner Weise an ihn anpassen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nein, die K\u00fcr musste ich in keinster Weise an ihn anpassen. Das macht er alles brav mit. Im Training fand er den Anfang von meiner d\u00fcsteren Technikmusik etwas \u201eunheimlich\u201c, das war dann aber beim zweiten Mal ausprobieren auch kein Problem mehr.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wie bist du mit Beluga zu einem Team geworden?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barbara kenne ich eigentlich schon seit \u00fcber zehn Jahren und Beluga auch schon sehr lange. Da wir nicht weit voneinander entfernt wohnen, hab ich auch \u00f6fters mal ihr Team trainiert, weil da auch ehemalige Teammitglieder von mir drin waren. 2013 habe ich in ihrem Team auf der Norddeutschen Meisterschaft ausgeholfen, weil sich jemand verletzt hatte und in den letzten Jahren haben wir auch \u00f6fters mal eine Show oder auch mal ein Weltcup-Turnier mit Beluga gemacht. So sind wir uns immer wieder \u201e\u00fcber den Weg gelaufen\u201c und der Kontakt ist nie abgebrochen. Letztes Jahr habe ich sie dann gefragt, ob Beluga mein Ersatzpferd sein k\u00f6nne woraufhin sie bejahte und da sich mein Erstpferd Highlander dann verletzte, bin ich die Saison auf Beluga gestartet, was ja auch, wie ich fand, ganz gut lief\u2026 \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habt ihr gemeinsame Rituale vor einem Start?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wenn wir ihn vor dem Start aus der Box holen, um zu putzen, versuche ich ihm immer beizubringen, eine Wasserflasche auf seinem Kopf zu balancieren, dass bekommt er auch schon ziemlich gut hin \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gibt es irgendwo auch Nachteile oder schlechte Seiten an ihm?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

W\u00fcsste ich nicht\u2026 Au\u00dfer vielleicht, dass wir noch keinen Klon von ihm haben \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Was bedeutet es f\u00fcr dich, so einen tollen und zuverl\u00e4ssigen Sportpartner an deiner Seite zu haben?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sehr viel. Ein gutes zuverl\u00e4ssiges Pferd ist f\u00fcr jeden Voltigierer das Fundament auf dem alles aufbaut. Je stabiler dies ist, desto h\u00f6here T\u00fcrme kann man bauen\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
