From the first minute on I was fascinated by the mechanics of the horse’s body. So many mechanisms that are all precisely linked with each other! Consequently I decided to become a horse physiotherapist. I graduated from the Academy of Animal Health. By now, I work with all equestrian disciplines, including vaulting horses of all levels! At the moment, I work with two teams from Austria and teams from Ellwangen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany).

Why does a physiotherapeutic treatment make sense for vaulting horses?

It doesn’t make any difference whether it is a vaulting horse or a normal riding horse, both often have physical complaints! This is easy to explain! Nature didn’t create horses to carry loads nor to permanently run in a circle. Therefore, vaulting horses have to compensate this unnatural strain. And in most cases, the harmful effects of this compensation work isn’t recognized in the first place.

Only a horse, which is completely in balance, can be used as a vaulting horse. That’s why it is essential to provide the horses the greatest possible freedom of movement. Not to forget the rider’s/vaulter’s safety.

So that a vaulting horse can obtain maximum performance throughout the year, the neck, the upper neck muscles as well as the thoracic spine and its muscles should be treated therapeutically several times a year.

The treatment differs from horse to horse, of course. Every horse is an individual and hence, the treatment must be adjusted: A treatment individually and perfectly adjusted to the physical problems – step by step to success!

What treatment methods do exist and what is the procedure of a treatment?

My treatment methods have also a holistic approach, adjusted to the respective symptoms and the situation of the patient, composed of the most effective therapeutic approaches. This way it is ensured that nothing is overlooked during a treatment and all aspects are considered. The holistic treatment is essential for me. I offer physiotherapy, osteopathy, cupping therapy, acupuncture, leech therapy, shock wave therapy, Matrix-Rhythm-Therapy and thermography. In the initial treatment the following is included: A general check, physiotherapy/osteopathy and acupuncture! First, I have a look at the horse in the box and then I try to get an idea of the movements of the horse. Only then it comes to the actual treatment. After the treatment I check the teeth and the saddle once again. Usually, the horse should be lunged relaxedly 1-2 days after my treatment!

I recommend to do a complete check at least twice a year!
